From its beginning on October 15th to this day in early January 2012, Occupy Vancouver has prompted many questions about its nature, aims, and practices.
The occupations have served an important purpose, but the time has come to direct the energy they have awakened toward tangible goals.
Occupy Vancouver calls for SYSTEM CHANGE, not CLIMATE CHANGE.
We cannot tackle the crises facing our world alone. We need each other. We need the 100%.
Occupy Vancouver is being evicted—but as they have said in New York, “you cannot evict an idea whose time has come.” We will continue to occupy everywhere. We will occupy the places where people meet and speak, travel and rest, stand and gather in Vancouver. If there can be no designated “agora,” we will make everywhere we are, at any given moment, an “agora.”
